Central Rivers AEA is offering LETRS Volume 1 and 2 training from September through April to help local educators strengthen their reading instruction. Designed for K-5 teachers, interventionists, and coaches, this practical course focuses on the fundamentals of how students learn to read and write. Rather than introducing a new curriculum, the sessions build foundational skills in key areas like phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
Led by CRAEA facilitators at the Clear Lake, Cedar Falls and Marshalltown offices, the training consists of four full-day sessions per volume. It provides an ideal starting point for new teachers building strong instructional habits, as well as districts looking to test the approach before expanding it further. Licensure renewal and graduate credits are available, along with optional in-district coaching.
For full schedule details or to register, educators can refer to the event flyer or contact Heather Gould at hgould@centralriversaea.org.
