    Prior to the establishment of Iowa's Area Education Agency (AEA) system in 1974, the Iowa legislature was plagued with complaints about inequitable services from district to district across Iowa. One of our number one objectives is to ensure that all students and teachers, regardless of location, have access to what they need to succeed.

Central Rivers AEA Work Experience Coordinator, Nicole Jones, helps students find jobs in their local communities. These jobs aim to teach students valuable skills needed for success after they graduate. 🙌 👏

Every day, Nicole assists students in four different schools across four ...towns. She connects and collaborates with local businesses to ensure students get real-world experience! 👏

Dunkerton CSD teachers engaged in coaching sessions with a Central Rivers AEA literacy consultant and school psychologist. The teachers worked with the #CRAEA staff to apply skills from their “Intensive Literacy” class. 🙌

They taught phonics explicitly and used visual, auditory and ...hands-on techniques to enhance student learning! 👏

Today was #HistoryDay at Central Rivers AEA! National History Day is a competition where students in grades 6-12 pick a topic and dive deeply into the past by conducting extensive research in libraries, archives and museums. 📚

Students present their conclusions and evidence through ...papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries and websites.

In the process, studying the past builds empathy and improves researching, writing and analytical skills. History education matters – studying the past helps us make sense of the present to move forward into the future! 🙌
